About Man Van Heaton

A small, family-run man and van firm born and based in Heaton. Two friendly movers, one tidy van, and a decade of looking after our neighbours' belongings as if they were our own.

Our story

Man Van Heaton started in 2015 with one van, a phone number and a simple promise: do a proper job, charge a fair price, and treat people's things the way you'd want yours treated. Our founder, Daniel Charlton, grew up around Heaton and had spent years helping friends and family shift flats and houses before turning it into a business. What began as weekend favours became a full-time trade, and a decade on we're still here — still local, still answering the phone ourselves, and still moving the same streets we know like the back of our hands.

We've deliberately stayed small. We're not trying to be a national chain with a fleet and a call centre; we're the two reliable lads your neighbour recommends. That smallness is the point. It means the people who quote your job are the people who turn up to do it, that nobody's chasing targets at your expense, and that our name — quite literally — is on the side of the van and on the line with every move.

Meet the team

Daniel Charlton — founder & lead mover. Heaton born and bred, Daniel has been moving homes across Newcastle for over ten years. He's the one you'll usually speak to when you call, and the one planning the angles when your wardrobe meets a tight Tyneside staircase. He holds a clean, current driving licence for the van and has built the business almost entirely on repeat custom and personal recommendation.

Our second mover. Every job is done as a two-person team, because heavy, awkward items should never be rushed or wrestled by one person. Our movers are trained in safe lifting and handling, know how to protect floors, doors and furniture, and are, frankly, good company on what can be a stressful day.

Qualifications, experience & licences

Trust matters when you're handing strangers the keys to your home and everything in it, so here's exactly where we stand:

  • A careful two-person team, so heavy items are never rushed or dropped
  • Every item wrapped in clean blankets and strapped securely for transit
  • Registered waste carrier — so any clearance waste is disposed of legally
  • Fully licensed, road-legal and well-maintained van
  • Trained in manual handling and safe lifting techniques
  • Over a decade of hands-on removals experience in Newcastle

We're happy to show our waste-carrier registration and talk through our experience on request — we'd rather you asked than wondered. If a removals firm won't be straight with you about its credentials, that tells you something.

Rooted in Heaton

We live here. We shop on Chillingham Road, walk in Heaton Park and know which back lanes flood when it rains. That local knowledge isn't a marketing line — it genuinely makes your move smoother, because we've already solved the parking, the permits and the awkward access on your street a hundred times before. From Heaton and High Heaton to Ouseburn and Sandyford, this is our patch.

What we believe in

Three things, really. Honesty: the quote we give you is the price you pay, with no invented extras for stairs, fuel or "it took a bit longer than we thought". Care: your furniture gets wrapped, your floors get protected, and your nan's china gets treated like the heirloom it is. And reliability: we turn up when we say we will, because a removals firm that's late has already failed at the one thing that matters most on moving day.

It's not complicated, but you'd be surprised how rare it is. That's why so much of our work comes from people who've used us before, or been told to call us by someone who has. We'd love to earn that same trust from you — whether it's a single sofa or the whole family home. Take a look at the services we offer, or just get in touch for a friendly, no-pressure chat.
